And why Bowlvegetal?
The reason I decided to create this blog and website is to promote a healthier lifestyle. In today's society, the priority is doing things quickly, often without us being aware of the importance of stopping and observing what we're eating. We let ourselves be driven by stress and anxiety, and this has a harmful effect on our health.
I'm becoming increasingly aware, both in myself and in those around me, of the emotional and physical influence of what we eat, and the importance of dispelling certain myths about a whole, plant-based diet. This lifestyle is simply about what's good for your health, without getting into issues of animal cruelty, environmental concerns, or ideas that might bias one group or another.
Two other very important aspects that contribute to an optimal lifestyle are taking care of your body with some daily physical exercise and, of course, the often-overlooked meditation . Very few people are aware of the benefits it provides to our bodies, although more and more people are practicing it for the advantages it offers in daily life.
Meet Fernando
My name is Fernando, and I have type 1 diabetes . Born in Valencia, I lived in the UK for 11 years and have traveled extensively within Spain for work. I've spent my entire life in the food industry, working in restaurants, sales, and importing food products.
I can say that food is one of my greatest passions , but also one of my biggest headaches due to my diabetes. I've been interested in plant-based diets for some time, which I've tried intermittently. During that time, the benefits have been extraordinary, such as:

- Higher concentration
- Improved quarterly blood glucose levels
- Feeling better about myself
- Feeling much more active
- And many more things that you will discover if you decide to change some of your eating habits.
The most important thing for me has been to find that, by avoiding processed or refined products , my blood sugar levels have been much more stable. This is because complex carbohydrates are absorbed more slowly, which allows insulin time to do its job.
